Welcome to Beth Moran Handweaver
Clare Island, County Mayo, Ireland
* Formerly known as Ballytoughey Loom *
All the work in this shop are one off designer pieces with no repeats. This is an important concept in my work as I have a great love for the individuality of each person and the unexpected nature of life. This is reflected in the many different “incidentals” you will see in each piece. Each collection will be run on approximately a 3 month changeover and each new collection will focus on a different product.

What my clients say

I’ve been a big fan of the hand weaver Beth Moran since opening the lighthouse in June 2013. She is my go-to person for very special individually woven items from table runners, rugs, wall-hangings and unusual small gifts such as hand-woven fabric covered journals. My favourite piece is my “Clare Island Cloak” which has seen me through several weddings! Every year I treat myself to some special “Beth” piece.
Roie Mc Cann @ The Lighthouse Clare Island

Beth, just letting you know how thrilled I was to receive my very own, Beth Moran original in the post. Having witnessed your work processes I can truly appreciate each strand and colour combination as being the work of a master crafts person. The weight and tactile nature of my blanket makes me reach for it every evening, it is a comfort and a joy that I am honoured to own.
Niamh Synnott, Dublin

Learning to weave under the care and guidance of Beth Moran is a total delight. I first came to Clare Island in 2018, and have returned to the loom every year since. Rarely can a master artist make a master teacher, Beth is the exception. Her heart is big and her patience is wide! I would highly recommend any one – of no or all craft experience to attend one of Beth’s courses. A truly unique escape, you will be astounded at what you’ll carry home when you aboard the boat back to Roonah.
